Yes, after reading tens of tutorial on how to remove pulse, this actually worked ! The most annoying app. misbehaving with pulse is Skype, which I use daily… so pulse had to go

I’m on a Dell Inspiron 8500, and for four days straight I’ve been reading people’s glib proclamations of how easy it is, and I’ve configured, configured, configured, re-installed, re-installed, re-installed, and nothing, no, nothing, not even my most determined efforts can get a rise out of my touchpad.

Nope, with this plugin your contacts that are online in Facebook will show in your pidgin, so you could chat easily from within pidgin while they still has to struggle with facebooks builtin chat.

Open up a terminal window (“Applications” menu – “Accessories” – “Terminal”) and copy paste the wget line.
The second line: Sudo dpkg…… will ask for you password, shouldn’t be any other problems!

im confused as to how to do this…..will everyone that i chat to on facebook, need pidgin?

I am real trouble working out where that wget http, is supposed to go…..how do i even get started…..im such a dunce…it took ages for me to get pidgin going….i just need a bit of help thanks….

You might want to use pasuspender to temporarily disable pulse when running xbmc. type pasuspender xbmc to your console and it should work – the pulseaudio gets disabled (and frees alsa) only for the duration of xbmc session, afterwards pasuspender enables it so the rest of ubuntu programs can use the sound card simultaneously like before…
